Dear Hayward Residents,
One of our Strategic Priorities at the City of Hayward is to Preserve, Protect and Produce Housing for All—and there’s good reason for it.
One of our Strategic Priorities at the City of Hayward is to Preserve, Protect and Produce Housing for All—and there’s good reason for it.
Next June will mark 10 years since Hayward voters passed the Measure C half-cent sales tax to enhance public safety and maintenance, improve roadways, seismically protect and update fire and emergency response facilities, and build a new downtown library.
Dear Residents,
Most every organization has a mission, a vision statement of what accomplishing the mission looks like, and a strategic plan for getting there. Your Hayward city government is no different.
At the City of Hayward, our strategic plan is called the Strategic Roadmap. It was developed and first adopted by the City Council in January 2020. During the COVID-19 pandemic, we dipped back in and updated the plan to incorporate new needs and challenges.
Dear Residents,
The cover of last year’s Annual Report mailer featured Hayward Sustainability Specialist Nicole Grucky flashing the heart sign at our weekly COVID-19 food distribution site. It reflected the spirit of our extraordinary City of Hayward pandemic relief effort and the resilience of the Hayward community.
A Food Action Plan is a roadmap for an equitable, sustainable, and resilient local food system that supports healthy, vibrant communities.
Goal of the Hayward Food Action Plan
The goal of the Hayward Food Action Plan is to help Hayward’s non-profit and educational partners develop a list of action steps to close services gaps in Hayward.
What is "100 Books Before Graduation"? A reading challenge for grades 7 to 12! The goal is to read 100 different books by the time you graduate high school.
100 books?! But that's so many! It might sound like a lot, but it's doable if you set aside just a few minutes to read every day. It's okay if you don't reach100; the goal is just to read more.

The City’s Mural Art Program was established in 2009 to address the issue of escalating graffiti and vandalism and in support of the City Council’s Safe, Clean and Green community priorities. The idea behind the program was to deter graffiti by installing beautiful mural artwork throughout the city on commercial buildings, schools, utility boxes, and overpasses.
