The Keep Hayward Clean & Green Task Force is encouraging Adopt-A-Block participants and Hayward residents to pick up litter in your neighborhood during the month of April, in celebration of Earth Day (April 22).
If you would like tools to help pick up litter safely, like gloves and trash grabbers, please fill out this form and Task Force Members or City staff will drop off a litter care package (contact-free) directly to you.
In addition, the City is celebrating Earth Day with a month long Earth Month Challenge April 1-30. Hayward residents can complete eco-activities (like picking up litter) and win prizes. Beautifying Your Neighborhood During the 2021 Earth Month Challenge
In celebration of Earth Day (April 22), the Keep Hayward Clean & Green (KHCG) Task Force is encouraging Adopt-A-Block participants and Hayward residents to pick up litter in your neighborhood during the month of April.
Hayward's Maintenance Services Team will pick up your bags full of litter when you enter the location into the Access Hayward app under the 'Adopt A Block - Trash & Debris' category.
KHCG Task Force is making it even easier for you to pick up litter in your neighborhood this Earth Month by preparing care packages that include bags, litter grabbers, gloves, and literature. Care packages can be requested until Thursday, April 15. The KHCG Task Force will make contactless deliveries from March 21 - April 16. Request a litter care package by signing up here.
Interested in Adopting A Block?
As an Adopt-A-Block volunteer you are able to "adopt" an area that you are committed to keeping litter free for a period of two years. By keeping Hayward litter free, you are helping to reduce environmental pollution and litter going into the Bay. Learn more at about the Adopt-A-Block Program.
