Hayward Beautiful Yard Contest
The #HaywardBeautiful Yard Contest is a reward-based approach to encourage residents to Keep Hayward Clean, Green, and Beautiful by acknowledging the hard work that goes into a bay friendly yard. The contest is sponsored by the Keep Hayward Clean & Green Task Force.
Criteria & Guidelines:
- Yard clean & free of debris
- Beautiful, pleasing & well-maintained
- Reduced water usage
- Use of native plants & landscaping

Eligibility:
Residential addresses located in the incorporated areas of Hayward can participate in the #HaywardBeautiful Yard Contest. Residents can nominate themselves or a neighbor.
Timeline:
How it Works:
During the nomination period, a letter is sent to the nominated yard with information about the program and how to accept their nomination. If a homeowner accepts the nomination, a member of the Keep Hayward Clean & Green Task Force will coordinate a time to deliver a #HaywardBeautiful Yard Contest yard sign to display in their yard. At its October meeting The KHCG Task Force is asked to review the list of properties that accepted the nomination and select winners.
The top three (3) winners will be acknowledged at a future City Council meeting and will be awarded gift cards from a Hayward business that serves the home improvement needs of the local community.
- First-place winner will receive a $100 gift card
- Second-place winner will receive a $75 gift card
- Third place will receive a $50 gift card
