Special Events

Special events include special sales, parades, races, street parties, street fairs, etc. These types of events may require additional review from the Planning Division and/or the City Council. For more information please call 510.583.4200 or 510.583.4111

Rules and Regulations for Special Event Organizers

This document outlines all organizer responsibilities before and during the event. 

Special Event Application Form

This document is meant to be an umbrella application that all organizers fill out and submit to the Permit Center at the beginning of their planning process, right after reviewing the “Rules and Regulations for Special Event Organizers.”  It should be submitted with an attached SITE PLAN, PARKING PLAN, TRAFFIC/DETOUR PLAN, VENDOR LIST, and PRIVATE SECURITY PLAN for internal routing and review.

Rules and Regulations for Special Event Vendors

Organizers should give this document to any vendor that they would like to include in their event    

Fee Reduction, Waiver, and sponsorship policy for special events

This policy establishes parameters for waiving fees associated with special events (i.e., facility fees and/or encroachment permit fees) and for sponsoring special events through direct cash payment.

Note: Please use separate Organizer and Vendor Checklist to track/verify internally whether organizer and vendors have complied with all relevant rules and regulations in advance of event.
