Apply for and renew a business license
The City of Hayward requires every person, firm, corporation, partnership or other business organization conducting business within the City to obtain a business license. The forms and steps needed to apply for your business license will vary depending upon your location - either within Hayward city limits or outside of Hayward city limits. IF YOUR BUSINESS IS LOCATED WITHIN HAYWARD CITY LIMITS
Due to Covid-19 our offices are currently closed to walk-in customers. We are accepting all applications by email or fax. Please submit the completed Business License Application by email to firstname.lastname@example.org (PDF file if possible) or by fax to (510) 583-3644. Once approved, you will receive an email confirmation and the invoice. Payments can be made online at hayward.hdlgov.com or by mail. Please note, staff are currently working remotely and there may be a delay in processing the application.
IF YOUR BUSINESS IS LOCATED OUTSIDE HAYWARD CITY LIMITS
You will need to complete a Business License Application, and submit it with payment to the Revenue Division. If you would like, you may submit your application via email to BusinessLicense@hayward-ca.gov. Once your application has been submitted, you will be contacted to discuss the fee due and to make your payment. The payment processor charges a convenience fee for over-the-phone payments of $2.50 or 3% (whichever is higher).
