City Hall and Nonessential Services Holiday Closure Schedule: Dec. 22, 2023 - Jan. 1, 2024

Hayward City Hall will be closed, and nonessential municipal services will be paused from Dec. 22 to Jan. 1, 2024. Specific information about departments, programs, and services during this period is provided below:

1. Street Sweeping: No street-sweeping or citation enforcement will occur during the closure. Regular street-sweeping resumes on Jan. 2, 2024. Review the schedule here.
2. Hayward Public Library: Both library branches will be closed from Dec. 23 to Jan. 1. Online check-outs of books, movies, and more are available via the digital library here.
3. Permit Applications: New permit applications and resubmittals can be submitted through the Hayward e-Permits Portal during the closure. Staff will begin reviewing materials after Jan. 1, 2024, with status updates expected after Jan. 4. For more information, visit the Permit Center.
4. Hayward Police Department Customer Service Counter: The counter will be closed on Friday, Dec. 22, Monday, Dec. 25, Friday, Dec. 29, and Monday, Jan. 1 only. Operating hours will be 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on all other days.
5. Hayward Animal Shelter: The Hayward Animal Shelter will remain open regular hours during the closure but will have reduced field services hours. Animal control officers will only be available until 3 p.m. on Dec. 24, Dec. 31, and Jan. 1. There will be no Animal control officer on duty on Dec. 25.  To report in-progress dog attack or animal cruelty, dial  9-1-1.  To report a sick or injured animal, call the police department’s non-emergency line at (510) 293-7272. 6. Revenue Center/Bill Payments: Closed for in-person payments during the holidays. Payments can be made by calling (510) 583-4636, using online portals, or the self-service kiosk outside City Hall. Explore alternative payment options here.
