Full Text:

Alameda County firemen were kept busy extinguishing two separate fires which broke out late last night and early this morning on Mississippi and Louisiana Streets in Russell City.

The first blaze, reported to the county fire patrol at 7:20 p.m., required the efforts of 25 men and five engines to extinguish. Hayward and civil defense firemen assisted the county’s forces in bringing the fire under control. A total of seven structures were burned, along with a large area of dry grass.

County firemen had just returned to their station when they received a second call, at 12:30 a.m., that another fire was burning in Russell City. Six men and one fire rig extinguished the blaze which destroyed one structure and burned dry grass near the building.
