Extension Granted for Hog Ranchers

The Santucci Bros. have been granted a two-week extension on their April 18 deadline for removing their hog farm operation from the Russell City Redevelopment project.

The Alameda County Board of Supervisors granted an extension to April 30 when the hog farm operators pleaded that rains have delayed completion of their new farm near Brentwood in Contra Costa county. They will continue to pay rent to the county on the Russell City properly during the extension interval.

The county redevelopment agency acquired the25 acre hog farm property at the end of Winton Avenue In November 1963 for $510,000. Their removal deadline was fixed to coincide with the proposed start of demolition of existing structures in the tract.

Plans are being prepared now by the county surveyor for the start of demolition in a 35-acre test plot adjoining the hog farm.

The Russell City agency closed acquisition on 13 lots in the redevelopment area last month, to increase its total holdings there to 351 parcels out of ap proximately 500 properties to be acquired.
