Hayward Municipal Band Summer Concerts

For over 60 years, the Hayward Municipal Band has brought free, live music to the Hayward and East Bay communities. Concerts are held in Memorial Park, just behind the Hayward Plunge.

Hayward Municipal Band History

Founded in 1957 by City maintenance workers Ed Mendonca and Tony Nunes, the band has grown into a cherished local tradition. In 1960, Tony Morelli took over as conductor, leading the 40-member professional ensemble until his passing in 1998. His daughter, Kathy Maier—formerly assistant conductor—has continued the legacy and led the band for more than 15 seasons.

Free Sunday Summer 2025 Concert Series

Join us on Sundays this summer in Hayward Memorial Park, 24241 Mission Blvd., for the 2025 Sunday Summer Concert series! Each concert will take place from 2:30 p.m. - 4:30 p.m. on the dates listed below. These concerts are free and open to everyone. Bring your family, friends, lawn chairs and picnics and join us!
