Orchard Avenue Traffic Calming

Project Overview:

 

The Orchard Avenue Traffic Calming Project spans 0.53 miles of Orchard Avenue between Mission Boulevard and Soto Road. This section of Orchard Avenue serves multiple neighborhoods, businesses, and schools. This project proposes traffic calming improvements to reduce speeding and cut through traffic. The project aims to identify and address community concerns and issues related to pedestrian, bicycle, and vehicular travel.

Upcoming Project Events & Community Meetings:

May 09, 2024 - Online Community Meeting

The Hayward Transportation Division held an online public meeting from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. on May 09, 2024 to provide an update on the City’s short-term plans developed in response from the January 2024 community meeting.

 

January 22, 2024 - Community Meeting #1 (completed)

The Hayward Transportation Division held  an in-person public meeting from 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. on Jan. 22, 2024, in the Multi-Purpose Room at HUB Parent Resource Center (24823 Soto Road), to discuss proposed traffic calming improvements on Orchard Avenue. Please note that the proposed design solutions presented at the community meeting are still under evaluation and may be modified based on community feedback and suggestions.
