Celebrate Earth Day 2023 at the Annual Citywide Clean-Up and Community Fair

March 28, 2023

Join the City of Hayward and the Keep Hayward Clean and Green Taskforce in celebrating Earth Day 2023 by participating in the family-friendly Annual Citywide Clean-Up on Saturday, April 22 at Weekes Park.

The Clean-Up will begin at 8:30 a.m., at which time attendees will be given gloves, a trash picker, a vest, and trash bags. Participants will then be free to collect litter from around Weekes Park and the nearby community. Interested volunteers will also be deployed to collect litter in neighborhoods throughout the City. The litter collection will be followed by a free lunch from local restaurant Tacos Uruapan and a community Earth Day fair, with several local organizations hosting sustainability-themed booths and activities including 100K Trees for Humanity, Friends of San Lorenzo Creek, Rising Sun Center for Opportunity, and Hayward Promise Neighborhood. There will also be a DJ and prizes raffled off to volunteers during the community fair.

Pre-registration for the event is available until 3 p.m. on Thursday, April 20. Please click here to pre-register. Registration is required in order to receive a free lunch.

If you are unable to make it to Weekes Park, but would like to organize a litter pick-up in your neighborhood or school on April 22, please contact Sustainability Specialist Nicole Grucky at nicole.grucky@hayward-ca.gov. The City of Hayward can provide you tools like gloves, bags, and litter grabbers, as well as pick up your collected litter at the end of the day.
