Fatal Collision – Hesperian Boulevard/Longwood Avenue
HAYWARD, Calif., On Thursday, June 5, 2025, at approximately 10:32 a.m., officers responded to the report of a collision involving a vehicle and pedestrian near the intersection of Hesperian Boulevard and Longwood Avenue.
Officers arrived and located all involved parties still on scene.
The driver, a 62-year-old adult male and Hayward resident who was still on scene when officers arrived, did not sustain any injuries as a result of the collision. The driver was cooperative and provided a statement regarding the incident. The driver's identity is not being released at this time.
The pedestrian, later identified as a 55-year-old male, Hayward resident was located at the scene of the collision suffering from injuries related to the collision. Medical personnel responded and transported him to a nearby hospital. On June 15th the pedestrian succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased.
The identity of the pedestrian is currently being withheld pending notifications to next of kin and formal identification protocols by the Alameda County Coroner’s Office.
It is not believed drugs or alcohol are a factor in this collision.
