Fatal Accident involving all-terrain vehicle – Peterman Ave/Linfield Ln
HAYWARD, Calif., On Saturday, June 24, 2023, at about 3:10 p.m., officers responded to the report of a “roll over” accident involving an all-terrain vehicle (ATV).
Officers arrived on scene and located the rider, a 37-year-old male of Hayward, suffering from injuries related to the accident. Officers and medical personnel attempted life-saving measures, but the rider succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene by medical personnel.
The identity of the rider is known but is being withheld at this time. It is believed the rider was traveling at a high rate of speed when he failed to negotiate a turn onto Linfield Ln from Peterman Ave, causing the ATV to roll over.
It is unknown if alcohol or drugs were a factor in this accident.
This is an active investigation and additional details will be released as they become available.
The Hayward Police Department case number is 2023-35492.
This is Hayward’s sixth fatal collision in 2023.
