One Arrested and 22 cited at Hayward DUI Checkpoint

Hayward, Calif.- On February 8, 2025, the Hayward Police Department held a DUI/ Driver License checkpoint on W. Winton Ave. from 8 pm until 2 am. 568 vehicles and drivers were screened with 1 driver being arrested for DUI. 22 drivers were cited for being unlicensed or for driving with a suspended/ revoked license.

DUI checkpoint locations are determined based on reported incidents of DUI related crashes. The primary purpose of DUI checkpoints is to educate the public on the dangers of impaired driving and to increase public safety by taking suspected impaired drivers off roads.

Funding for this program was provided by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety, through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
