City mask requirement through end of February 2022

February 18, 2022

The City of Hayward will continue to require the wearing of masks by all visitors to City Hall, Hayward Public Library and other City facilities through at least the end of February as a continuing public health and workplace-safety measure.

Effective Wednesday, the State of California and County of Alameda are relaxing indoor masking mandates, dropping the requirement except in certain settings for individuals who are fully vaccinated against COVID-19.

At the same time, businesses and employers must follow California Division of Occupational Safety and Health (Cal/OSHA) standards and are free and have the right and authority to require masking of visitors, customers and employees as a means of controlling the spread of COVID-19. County health authorities continue to recommend strongly the wearing of masks in indoor settings in which unvaccinated people may be present.

If you have questions, please contact airport staff at 510-293-8678 during regular business hours or at 510-385-1104 at other times. Thanks for your cooperation.
