May 9-10: During this period, applicants and staff will be unable to access online applications. Also, payments will not be able to be made online, though physical checks could be dropped off at the Permit Center on the first floor of City Hall, 777 B Street, during business hours from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday through Friday or mailed to the appropriate contacts.

The inspection will verify that the original requirements are maintained and that the storage commodity and/or arrangement or method has not changed.

Storage commodities and methods include:

  • combustible material in closely packed piles more than 12 feet in height;
  • combustible material on pallets, or in racks more than 12 feet in height;
  • certain special hazard commodities such as rubber tires, plastics, some flammable liquids, idle pallets, etc., the critical height may be as low as 5 feet.

The purpose of the annual Fire Department permit is to assure that a fire inspection is made on a regular annual basis.
