October 13, 2020

Election materials with the text: Hayward Municipal Election: Tuesday, Nov. 3

Hayward voters will decide two City ballot measures and elect candidates to four City Council seats in the Nov. 3 Hayward municipal election.

Ballot Measure NN would authorize the City Council to increase the transient occupancy tax paid by hotel and motel guests from 8.5 percent to no more than 14 percent to support City of Hayward general fund services to the Hayward community.

Ballot Measure OO would amend the Hayward City Charter to eliminate a restriction that only registered voters can serve on City-appointed advisory commissions, opening service on these bodies to more Hayward residents.

Measure OO also would amend the Charter to eliminate gender-based designations and titles and instead use neutral, gender-free designations and titles.

Information about candidates on the ballot for election to one of four seats on the seven-member City Council can be found here on the City Clerk’s Council candidates webpage.
