Amazon Web Services (AWS), a global provider of cloud computing services to individuals, companies and governments with growing operations in Hayward, is launching a special two-week Girls’ Tech Day event starting Nov. 14.

Girl’s Tech Day is designed to inspire and empower young girls grades three to 12, and young women, ages 18 to 24, to pursue interests and careers in technology.  It is a series of learning workshops focused on science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEAM), and the arts.

Originally planned as an in-person event in Hayward, AWS shifted Girls’ Tech Day into a virtual program in response to the COVID-19 pandemic—a move that also will allow for greater access and participation.

Participants will explore machine learning, artificial intelligence, coding, virtual reality, robotics and more through speaker sessions, fun activities and interactive trainings—all designed to be enjoyed and explored at one’s own pace and as many times as wished.

The event, which is being held in partnership with the City of Hayward and Hayward Unified School District, is open to all participants, but only parents, guardians and teachers can register participants under the age of 18.  The only requirement: an electronic device—a mobile phone, tablet or computer—with an Internet connection.  Click here for information and to register.
