March 19, 2019

HAYWARD, Calif., March 19, 2019—The steering committee of the Annual Volunteer Recognition and Awards Dinner is inviting local community agencies to select one of their volunteers to be recognized during the 42nd Annual Volunteer and Recognition Dinner later this year.

For the past 41 years, the Annual Volunteer Recognition and Awards Dinner, sponsored by the County of Alameda and City of Hayward, has served as an opportunity to thank the most dedicated community members in the city and pay tribute to our many selfless volunteers.

The 42nd Annual Volunteer Recognition and Awards Dinner will take place on Oct. 8, 2019, at St. Rose Hospital’s Grand White Tent.

Local community agencies are invited to select a volunteer to be recognized during the event’s “Hearts of Hayward” awards ceremony.

In addition, agencies may nominate a volunteer for the annual John N. Pappas Humanitarian Award, presented every year to a community volunteer who exemplifies community spirit and ownership.

Nomination forms were mailed to community agencies last month, and can be requested by calling Ginny DeMartini, district director for Alameda County District 2 Supervisor Richard Valle, (510) 670-6150, or online at http://www.emailmeform.com/builder/emf/hef/40thDinner.

The nomination period closes May 15.
