Summer fun getting off to fast start in 2018

Third Thursday Summer Street Party

The summer season of City of Hayward-supported street parties, community festivals and other events gets off to a fast start this month.

On the first day of summer, June 21, the 3rd Thursday Downtown Street Party series opens its 19th year with bands, the first of three summer car shows, street entertainers, food and family fun from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. on B Street between Foothill Boulevard and Watkins Street.

Summer Movies on the Plaza outside Hayward City Hall returns June 29 with a showing of Nut Job 2, Nutty by Nature, sponsored by Hayward Area Recreation District.  Bring your blankets, picnic dinner, low-back lawn chairs and flashlight starting at 6.m.  The movie will begin after dark at 8 or 8:30 p.m.

Then, on June 30, get a head start on Independence Day celebration at the 5th Annual Tennyson All America Festival at Mount Eden Mansion, 2451 W. Tennyson Road.  Enjoy music, food, refreshments, bike rodeo, activities for children, a car show, and learn about Hayward community resources.
