Helicopter flown on instructional flight crashed today at Hayward Executive Airport

HAYWARD, Calif., July 15, 2019—A helicopter flown on an instructional flight crashed today at Hayward Executive Airport, killing the flight instructor and critically injuring the flight student, who was transported by ambulance to an area hospital.

The cause of the crash, which occurred at about 2:30 p.m., is unknown at this time and will be the subject of an investigation by the National Transportation Safety Board.

The registered owner of the helicopter was Pacific Helicopters flight training based at Hayward Executive Airport. The City of Hayward has no information on the identify of the flight instructor or student that it can share at this time.

The City will update this news release at most daily as relevant new information becomes available.
