The City of Hayward will host a community gathering and candlelight vigil on Saturday evening to remember and honor those who died 20 years ago in the 9/11 terrorist attacks, those who lost their lives during our nation’s response, and everyone whose lives have been impacted over the past 20 years.

Community members are invited to gather starting at 6:30 p.m. and walk the Plaza, leaving mementos and messages at any of the twenty memorial stations that will be placed throughout the Plaza to honor those who were killed, first-responders, veterans, and friends, family and loved ones here and abroad.

The candlelight vigil will begin with a moment of silence at sundown at 7:21 p.m. in the southeast corner of the Plaza across Mission Boulevard from the Hayward 9/11 Memorial.

Battery-powered tealight candles will be provided while supplies last.
