The City of Hayward is currently updating its General Plan and Climate Action Plan (CAP). This includes the development of a new Environmental Justice Element. The intent of the element will be to identify and address problems that previous governmental actions haven’t addressed, such as fair and equitable access to healthy food, affordable housing, and meaningful participation in actions and decisions made by governments.
At this Environmental Justice Public Forum, the City will review and seek feedback from the public on its Existing Conditions Assessment (which will be made available in advance of the meeting). This Assessment document will provide details of Hayward's conditions for the following environmental justice topics: pollution exposure, access to clean air and water; access to healthy food; access to safe and sanitary housing and access to physical activity and recreation.
