In addition to Board of Directors meetings, Board members represent the District on many other boards, commissions, advisory committees and intergovernmental bodies. Interagency Liaison Committees (ILCs) were established by the Board of Directors to facilitate better coordination, enhanced communication, and provide an opportunity for interactive problem-solving amongst members of the public, the disabled community and other governmental jurisdictions.  Additionally, members of the Board also participate as observers at meetings with internal bodies such as the Accessibility Advisory Committee and the Retirement Board as well as external agencies in a similar capacity or as voting members; keeping the Board abreast of issues and projects that are related to public transit and items of mutual interest. More recently, as part of the legislation that dissolved redevelopment agencies, cities were required to establish seven-member oversight boards for the purpose of managing ongoing payment obligations and liquidating assets.  As the largest special district taxing entity in Alameda County, members of the Board of Directors were appointed to one or more Successor Agency Oversight Boards for cities within the District’s boundaries.
