Teen Advisory Group (In-Person):

Help the library better serve you while earning community service hours.

  • Help plan teen library events, recommend books and music for the library, meet new friends, and more!
  • The TAG meets the first Wednesday of each month from 4:30 PM to 5:30 PM in the Teen Room (Downtown Library, 2nd Floor).
  • No application or commitment required.
  • All teens are welcome to attend.
Teen Volunteer Book Reviewers Program (Virtual):

Volunteer Book Reviewers earn community service hours by writing book reviews for the library's online catalog.

  • Submit your reviews online from anywhere, anytime!
  • Each review counts as 1 hour of community service if approved by Teen Librarian Ari.
  • Applications are accepted year-round.
Children's Room Helpers (In-Person):

Children's Room Helpers assist librarians in the Children's section of the library.

  • Tasks may include cleaning books, craft preparation, and other duties as assigned.
  • Flexible scheduling; volunteers sign up for 1-hour shifts.
  • Applications are accepted during the school year.

Teen Librarian Ari will keep a log of each volunteer's hours. If you need a letter verifying your hours or have a form/log that needs to be signed, please email Ari at ariana.nussbaum@hayward-ca.gov.
