Hayward Mayor Mark Salinas appointed Alameda County Mayors’ Conference president

May 19, 2025

HAYWARD, Calif., May 19, 2025— The Mayors of 14 Alameda County cities voted Wednesday to appoint Hayward Mayor Mark Salinas president of the Alameda County Mayors’ Conference for the association’s 2025-2026 fiscal year.

The Alameda County Mayors’ Conference (ACMC) was established in 1954 to facilitate discussion, information-sharing and cooperation among Alameda County cities to address issues of common concern and to represent the interests of cities before county and regional governmental bodies.

“I am grateful for the opportunity to lead the Conference as we work together to meet countywide and regional challenges and respond to threats of funding cutoffs from Washington, D.C.,” Mayor Salinas said.

Mayor Salinas said his priorities for his term as ACMC president are strengthening advocacy and policy coordination and mentoring support for the county’s several recently elected new mayors.

Under state law, the Conference also acts as the Alameda County City Selection Committee and makes appoints of its members to serve on regional regulatory, funding and planning agencies and boards, such as the Bay Area Air Quality Management District, the Bay Conservation and Development Commission and the Metropolitan Transportation Commission.

“I want to congratulate Mayor Salinas on his appointment,” said Dr. Ana M. Alvarez, Hayward City Manager. “It reflects strong confidence in the leadership of our City.”

ACMC membership consists of the mayors of the incorporated cities of Alameda County: Alameda, Albany, Berkeley, Dublin, Emeryville, Fremont, Hayward, Livermore, Newark, Oakland, Piedmont, Pleasanton, San Leandro and Union City.
