Mark your calendar for August 5th because the Bay Area Regional Energy Network (BayREN) is launching the Efficiency and Sustainable Energy (EASE) Home Program! Qualified Hayward households will be offered a streamlined path to a more energy-efficient, healthier, and more comfortable home. The program is tailored specifically for moderate-income households and helps cover essential upgrades like insulation, duct sealing, smart thermostats, air sealing, and safety fixes like mold or pest remediation. The program process is simple. Residents begin by checking eligibility online, then receive a free in-home visit to assess needs, followed by a customized proposal with transparent, fixed pricing and rebates already applied.

The true ease of EASE lies in its full-service model: BayREN coordinates everything—from site assessment and permit applications to contractor selection, rebate processing, and final installation—all backed by a one-year workmanship warranty. Applicants are responsible for only 20% of the cost, up to $1,000, for core upgrades. For those considering electrification, additional measures such as induction cooktops, heat-pump HVAC or water heaters, and clothes dryers are also supported, with BayREN helping facilitate generous third-party incentives to offset costs.

Hayward homeowners—especially those in older, pre-2010 single-family homes (four or fewer units) serviced by PG&E—are encouraged to apply early to take advantage of this August launch. Renters with landlord consent are also welcome to participate. Complete the Alameda County Pre-Launch interest form to be notified when you can enroll for the program. For questions or assistance, you can reach out directly at EASEHome@bayren.org or call (866) 998‑8655. or call (866) 998‑8655.
