Unvaccinated individuals should continue to mask when visiting City of Hayward facilities

March 7, 2022

Hayward City Hall of a bright sunny day

The City of Hayward is asking members of the public who are not fully vaccinated against COVID-19 to continue to wear a mask or other face-covering when visiting City Hall, Hayward Public Library and other City facilities.

Similarly, the City is requiring unvaccinated City employees to wear a mask or other face-covering whenever at the workplace.  In addition, unvaccinated City employees are required to test twice weekly for coronavirus infection.

Though the California Department of Public Health dropped masking requirements for most indoor settings effective March 1, the City is asking unvaccinated individuals to continue to mask while visiting City facilities as a workplace health and public safety measure.

Additionally, Alameda County public health authorities continue to strongly urge everyone to wear a mask or other face-covering in indoor public spaces regardless of vaccination status.

Members of the public who want to provide feedback, share a concern or have questions about the City’s masking policy are welcome to contact Hayward Public Information Officer Chuck Finnie at chuck.finnie@hayward-ca.gov.
