ICYMI—Mayor Halliday’s 2022 State of City address
Mayor Barbara Halliday gave the annual State of the City presentation at the Hayward Public Library on June 23—her last as Mayor of the City of Hayward.
The State of the City is an update on the City of Hayward's progress, meeting the opportunities and challenges of the day and a look forward into the future. It is delivered annually by Hayward's mayor at an event supporting the Hayward Chamber of Commerce's Leadership Hayward program and, by invitation, to meetings of other groups and organizations.
This year, Mayor Halliday discussed the City's progress under its City Council-adopted Strategic Roadmap strategic plan. The Roadmap identifies six priorities, which are intended to guide policymaking, budgeting, and new projects and programs. They are:
- Preserve, Protect & Produce Housing for All
- Grow the Economy
- Invest in Infrastructure
- Confront Climate Crisis & Champion Environmental Justice
- Strengthen Organizational Health
- Enhance Community Safety & Quality of Life
The mayor presented progress being made on all six priorities, included updates on programs to tackle homelessness in Hayward, economic support for Hayward businesses, and new public safety initiatives.
