Volunteer service on any City Commission provides an opportunity for residents to participate in the City’s decision-making process by advising the City Council and staff on a wide range of important topics.

The City of Hayward is now accepting applications to serve on several of its advisory commissions. This is your chance to make a difference and help shape the future of our community.

Apply by Friday, August 1, 2025, to be considered for: 

  1. Clean and Green Commission,
  2. Community Services Commission,
  3. Library Commission,
  4. Personnel Commission, or
  5. Planning Commission

Interviews are currently scheduled for Tuesday, August 26, 2025.

Eligibility

In order to be eligible for appointment to any Commission or Task Force, a person shall be a resident of the incorporated area of the City of Hayward.  And, pursuant to passage of Measure OO in November 2020, appointment to Commissions or Task Forces is open to all Hayward residents, regardless of whether they are registered or eligible to be registered to vote.
