Test your bike-friendliness with Bike East Bay’s Drivers Ed 2.0 Quiz
Are you a bike-friendly driver? In honor of National Bike Month, drivers can take Bike East Bay’s two-minute Drivers Ed 2.0 Quiz to find out. Participants will be entered into a random drawing for a $50 gift card.
Biking to your destination instead of driving has benefits not just for personal health and wellness, but for environmental health. The transportation sector is the largest producer of greenhouse gases in the U.S. due to automobiles, and every trip replaced by a bike helps to reduce global emissions and improve local air quality.
Bicycle and pedestrian-friendly infrastructure is necessary to ensure community members are comfortable using these alternative modes of transportation. Last year, the Hayward City Council adopted an update to its Bicycle and Pedestrian Master Plan to continue enhancing this infrastructure. In addition to the improvement and expansion of facilities, safe driving behaviors are critical to fostering a multimodal community.
Drivers can test their knowledge about driving safely around cyclists and pedestrians by taking this six-question quiz produced by Bike East Bay. Answers are provided at the end of the quiz, and are specific to California state law. Alameda County residents who complete the quiz and provide an email contact will be entered into a random drawing for one of eight $50 gift cards from the Southern Alameda County Spare the Air Team.
