City of Hayward to Dedicate 9/11 Memorial
HAYWARD - On Monday, May 30 at 1:00 p.m. the City of Hayward will officially dedicate its newest memorial, adjacent the historic old City Hall building on Mission Blvd. The Hayward 9/11 Memorial will honor and remember the heroes of September 11, 2001. Along with the 164 local veterans who gave the ultimate sacrifice, the memorial also honors Hayward first responders who have lost their lives protecting the Hayward community.
The dedication will last for approximately one hour and will feature color guards and uniformed participants from local Police and Fire color guards and the local veteran honor guards; as well as brief remarks from local elected officials, city executives, and community leaders. The public is invited to attend to help show the community's reverence and appreciation toward these heroes.
