Workshop on Toxic Air Contaminant, Greenhouse Gas Emission Rules

Brianne Elizarrey | March 17, 2017

New regulations proposed to control toxic air contaminant and greenhouse gas emissions from San Francisco Bay Area commercial and industrial facilities will be the subject of a public workshop in Hayward from 4:30 to 6 p.m. March 29 at Weekes Community Center, 27182 Patrick Avenue.

At the workshop, Bay Area Air Quality Management District officials will deliver presentations, answer questions and gather public input on two proposed rules governing toxic air contaminant emissions and one governing greenhouse gas emissions.

Proposed Rule 11-18 calls for health-risk screenings for all facilities that report emissions of toxic air contaminants and reduction plans for facilities exceeding certain health thresholds.  Proposed Rules 12-16 and 13-1—governing toxic air contaminants and greenhouse gas emissions, respectively—pertain specifically to Bay Area petroleum refineries.
