The City of Hayward has started a process to develop a Climate Action Plan that will make Hayward a more environmentally and socially sustainable community. The Plan will identify Strategies to:

Reduce Greenhouse Gases emissions - the primary contributor to global warming
Decrease community dependence on non-renewable resources
Increase Hayward's potential for "green" economic development
Enhance the health of all who live and work in Hayward.

The first step in developing a Climate Action Plan, the Baseline GHG Emissions Inventory Report is completed. Included are the following appendices:

Working with environmental consultants, HDR and Town-Green, City staff will start the development of the Climate Action Plan with the involvement Hayward's residential, business and the educational communities in two community workshops and other meetings.
