Michael’s mother Dora and grandparents Billy and Lillie Batchie owned a home and were residents of Russell City. His mother and her sister Barbara grew up in Russell city graduating from Hayward High School. And Lillie owned and ran a Russell City Café. 

Michael is on this committee to get reparations to the former residents of Russell city that we forcibly removed from their homes back in the 1950’s and 60’s. 

He worked at Acumen Building Enterprise Inc of Oakland Ca as Safety and Construction Inspector/ IT network oversight of the design of Bay Area Rapid Transit District (Bart) –TBT  Transbay tube, Hayward Maintenance Complex (HMC). Also provided construction management and inspection services on installation of network/it systems. 

Prior to Acumen he worked at Murphy McKay & Associates and Sefnco 2016-working in the capacity of Project manager and Outside plant engineer out of the Lafayette and Livermore offices. He managed multiple contractors through out the required steps to ensure successful projects completion within budget and time constraints.  

Prior to Murphy McKay & Associates and Sefnco he also worked as a Network Engineer III for Comcast Xfinity on the Cran (Converged Network) backbone network for the entire San Francisco Bay Area. Daily tracking of the network builds from Rack location builds, power and fiber installation, equipment delivery. Lead test and turnup on dwdm, sonet network platforms such as Juniper MX960, Cisco ASR9000, Alcatel, Fujitsu, Ciena and wave ready systems.
