Did you know that roughly half of home fire deaths result from fires reported between 11 p.m. and 7 a.m., when most people are asleep? Smoke alarms save lives. We would like every resident of Hayward to have smoke alarms in every bedroom, outside each separate sleeping area, and on every level of your home, including the basement. Larger homes may need more alarms.

Thanks to a generous donation to purchase smoke detectors for our community from Hayward Rotary, Sprinkler Fitters Local 483 and Case Industries, Hayward Fire Department is able to offer free smoke detectors to families in need.

If you need a smoke alarm, not only will we provide it, but will install it for you as well. If your smoke alarm is over 10 years old, it needs to be replaced.
