Suspected Manufacturing of Illegal Firework Explosives- 27000 Block of Mandarin Ave
Hayward, Calif., – On July 3, 2025, at approximately 12:18 PM, officers responded to a 911 call reporting a house fire near the 27000 block of Mandarin Ave.
Officers arrived on scene and located an adult male suffering from injuries consistent with a fireworks-related explosion. While officers were on scene, a second explosion occurred, leading to the evacuation of the home and nearby areas.
Firefighters quickly contained the resulting fire to the garage, preventing further damage to the rest of the house and neighboring properties.
Several individuals were evaluated at the scene, and two were transported to local hospitals for further medical treatment. Both individuals are currently listed in critical condition. No additional details are available at this time.
Due to the potential hazards posed by remaining explosive materials inside the home, the Alameda County Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) unit was called to assist with the safe removal of any devices.
Preliminary findings suggest the suspected manufacturing of illegal fireworks or explosives may have occurred at the residence. The scene remains active and under investigation by the Hayward Police Department, Hayward Fire Department, and the EOD unit to determine the origin of the fireworks and the cause of the explosions.
