Anyone 18 years of age or older as of April 1, 2026, and living within the Hayward city limits, is eligible to apply to fill the two-year term of Hayward Poet Laureate. In addition, teens between the ages of 13 and 19 who live or go to school in incorporated Hayward are invited to apply to become the next Hayward Youth Poet Laureate.
