National Public Safety Telecommunicators Week
As National Public Safety Telecommunicators Week comes to a close, we want to take a moment to highlight two of the finest dispatchers we’ve had the pleasure to know and work with. Randy (pictured on the left) and Larry (pictured on the right), have a combined 68 years of experience!
Randy started his career in 1980 and positively impacted the community and our organization with his passion and hard work right from the start. After some time away to serve as a missionary overseas, Randy returned and excelled immediately, eventually holding roles as a Senior Communications Supervisor as well as acting Manager and Administrator roles, whenever needed. Randy is patient, caring, and compassionate, and his dedication and mentorship have been incredible assets to the community and the Police Department as a whole.
Larry started his working career in the Unites States Marine Corps as a Reserve from 1978-1982. In 1984, Larry joined the Hayward Police Department and has been a hard-working and crucial part of our team ever since. Larry worked as a Reserve Officer, Reserve Police Sergeant, Jail Assistant, and Community Service Officer until 1998 when he was promoted to Communications Operator. Larry is dependable, motivated, and professional, and we are so lucky for his dedication and hard work in Hayward, and we are grateful for his service to our country.
After Randy’s 30 years of service and Larry’s 38 years of service, they both retired at the end of last year. But!... We are happy to say they are still helping serve the community by working part time in our communications center! We are grateful for their service, their friendship, and their contribution to the Hayward Community. Happy National Public Safety Telecommunicators Week to you both! We appreciate you!
