Council Sustainability Committee Meetings

Want to learn more about the City of Hayward's sustainability goals and activities? Council Sustainability Committee meetings are open to the public and are a great way to learn about current City initiatives and projects.

The Council Sustainability Committee meets bi-monthly to review the City’s progress on its sustainability goals and make policy recommendations. Meetings are typically on the second Monday of January, March, May, July, September, and November at 4:30 p.m. at City Hall, Room 2A.

How do I participate?
Take a look at the agenda for the meeting you plan to attend. There is an opportunity for public comments at the beginning of each meeting. Comments are limited to 3 minutes per person. You can also send your comments by email ahead of the meeting to Carol.Lee@hayward-ca.gov.

Who is on the Committee?
Three City Councilmembers serve on the Sustainability Committee. The current Councilmembers are Al Mendall (Chair), Elisa Márquez, and Francisco Zermeño.

What happens at a Committee meeting?
The Committee receives presentations and written and oral reports from staff and provides policy direction for the full City Council to consider.
