Summer months bring fun, sun, and heat! Sometimes, the heat can become dangerous, especially for children, seniors, people who are homeless, people who work outside, and people with certain health conditions. Staying safe in high heat is important. When a local heat emergency has been declared, we will share information with the community via social media, our official e-newsletter, The Stack and AC Alert.
When the temperature is going to be over 100 degrees on any given day, or the temperature is estimated to be over 95 degrees for three consecutive days, the following Cooling Centers may be activated.
The Alameda County Office of Emergency Services (OES) works with Cities to compile a list of facilities and their operational hours during times of extreme heat. When there is a need for Cooling Centers to open and facilities have been identified that can provide this service, Alameda County OES will post a list of cooling centers and facilities and their operational hours on their website below.
