Family Counseling, Crisis Intervention & Case Management

Counseling services for children, youth and the entire family are available at YFSB’s confidential offices within the Police Department, as well as in several Hayward schools. All of the experienced counselors have Master’s or Doctoral degrees, and most are licensed.

YFSB CounselingPeople come for counseling for a number of reasons, including behavior problems at home, school and in the community; parent-child conflict; and adjustment to family traumas such as domestic violence, divorce, or death. YFSB believes that healthy family life is the key to producing healthy kids. Because kids live within systems, our general orientation is a family-systems approach; we work not only with the juvenile, but also with his or her family, the school, other involved agencies, and the larger community. The focus of counseling is to improve individual and family functioning. All services are offered at no cost to the family and are available in both English and Spanish.

Although counselors work together with Police Officers, all counseling is strictly confidential, and follows all of the ethical and professional guidelines of the California Board of Behavioral Sciences and the Board of Psychology.
