Take the Summer Reading Challenge! June 15 - August 17, 2019. All ages - babies through adults.
Hayward Library challenges everyone to spend time reading, learning, and exploring this summer. Play games, earn great prizes, explore library services, and attend one of our special events.
Children's Summer Reading Challenge (babies - age 12): Register using one of the methods above. For every 20 minutes that you read (or are read to) color in a square on your reading log or report your minutes online. When you have finished a reading log by reading 5 hours, bring it to the Weekes Branch to pick up your prizes, then get a new reading log and keep going! For every reading log that you return to the library, you will win a brand new book of your choice, coupons for free entry to museums or free kids' meals at local restaurants, and an entry into our weekly raffle!
Teen Summer Reading Challenge (ages 13-18): Track your reading in your reading log or online. For every 5 hours that you read, you'll win a free book and a coupon to local restaurants or museums. Complete the Challenge by reading 20 hours to win a $5.00 gift card of your choice.
Adult Summer Reading Challenge (ages 18+): Read, attend library events, and get out into the community - there are many ways to participate! Each activity you do or book that you read will win points - for every 10 points, you'll win a free book and tickets into our weekly raffles.
*Please note: only minutes, books, or activities completed between June 15 and August 17 can be counted for the Summer Reading Challenge. Prizes will be available beginning Monday, June 24, 2019.
The Summer Reading Challenge is sponsored by the Friends of Hayward Library.
