The Personnel & Training Unit is responsible for the hiring and training of all employees at the Hayward Police Department. The P&T Unit conducts recruitment and hiring for all available positions and is responsible for the continuous professional training given to sworn police officers.

Honor Guard

The HPD Honor Guard is a ceremonial unit, composed of volunteers who are highly motivated and show aptitude for ceremonial duty. A primary role for HPD Honor Guard is to provide funeral honors for fallen officers, serve as the "guardians of the colors" by displaying and escorting the national and state flags on ceremonial occasions at official functions.
