In March, 2017, Mayor Halliday and the Hayward City Council joined the Compact of Mayors, a global coalition of mayors and city officials who pledge to reduce local greenhouse gas emissions.
Green Power Leadership Award

Hayward was was among the three entities nationwide to be honored with the US EPA’s 2015 Green Power Leadership Award for renewable energy generation at the Water Pollution Control Facility.
Beacon Award

Hayward was one of four cities in California to be honored with the Beacon Award in 2015 for its efforts to reduce Greenhouse Gas emissions, save energy and adopt policies and programs that promote sustainability.
Water Efficient Landscaping

The City is doing it's part to reduce Hayward's water consumption by updating our landscaping to be drought resistant and bay friendly.
