Items may be brought to the Main Library or Weekes Branch during library operating hours. Each food item will result in $2 of fines being cleared. Expired items & items in glass containers will not be accepted.

*Applicable to up to $40 overdue fines only. Food cannot be used to pay for lost or damaged items, fees for items in Collection status, Link Plus fines, or replacement library card fees.

All donated items will go to the Alameda County Community Food Bank.

Most needed items:

• Canned Tuna
• Canned Chicken
• Natural Peanut Butter
• Nuts and Beans
• Brown Rice
• Quinoa
• Canned Soup (low sodium)
• Whole Grain Cereal
• Oatmeal

The food bank will not accept:

• Soda
• Perishable Food
• Homemade Items
• Formula
• Baby Food
• Energy Drinks
• Any juice which is not 100% juice
• Junk food high in sugar or salt
• Dietary Drinks (like Ensure)
• Any items in glass jars
