Background:

The City of Hayward is gearing up to start its annual pavement improvement project bringing $11 million of spot repairs, resealing, repaving, curb upgrades and restriping to more than 33 lane miles of roadway.

Ninety-segments of streets are to be included in the Fiscal Year 2022 Pavement Improvement Project with residents receiving 72-hour notice of the exact time of work provided by contractor Bay Cities Paving and Grading, Inc.

Street segments included in the Fiscal Year 2022 Project have been chosen based on City evaluation of current pavement conditions, public and City Council member input and opportunities for efficiency through geographic grouping of improvements.

The City’s annual Pavement Improvement Project is funded through a combination of Alameda County Measure B and BB transportation sales tax revenue, gas tax revenue, state vehicle registration fees, and the California Road Repair and Accountability Act of 2017.
