NO COST RESIDENTIAL CHIPPING PROGRAM MAY 20 – JUNE 30, 2019

May 7, 2019

Update as of June 5, 2019:  We are no longer accepting chipping applications.  The chipping service has been unbelievable popular this year!  At this time we have booked all our available slots.  We are currently looking into running another program in the Fall of 2019 and next Spring 2020.  Please check back!

The City of Hayward Fire Department is now accepting applications for free chipping services of tree limbs to Hayward and Fairview residents in the Hayward Hills.  The program is on a first-come first-serve basis, so reserve your spot soon.

All residential properties east of Mission Blvd, south of D St. to the border of Union City are eligible to participate.  This area is considered a high-hazard fire area because of its proximity to open space areas, which is covered with grass and brush.

To participate, residents must complete the 2019 Request for Chipping form and receive confirmation they have been accepted.  Residents are responsible for cutting and stacking their material, a contractor through the City will come to the front of each property to do the chipping.  Learn more and apply by visiting www.hayward-ca.gov/ChipperProgram.

Additional grant funding is available to help senior, disabled, or low-income residents with cutting, trimming, and stacking. To determine if you or someone you know is eligible please call (510) 583-4930.

This program is funded by a grant from the Cooperative Fire Program of the U.S. Forest Service, Department of Agriculture, Pacific Southwest Region, though the California Fire Safe Council.
