Celebrate Earth Day at the 36th Annual Citywide Clean-Up and Community Fair

March 27, 2019

Join the City of Hayward in celebrating Earth Day 2019 by participating in the family-friendly 36th Annual Citywide Clean-Up and Community Fair on Saturday, April 27.

The Clean-Up will begin at 8:30 a.m., at which time attendees will be given gloves, a trash picker, a vest, and trash bags. Participants will then be free to collect litter from around Weekes Park and the nearby community. Interested volunteers will also be deployed to collect litter in neighborhoods throughout the City.

The litter-collection will be followed by a free lunch and an Earth Day-themed community fair, featuring music, eco-giveaways, and environmentally-focused displays provided by such groups as the Hayward Library Services Department, showcasing its seed library; StopWaste (the county solid-waste authority), providing composting resources; East Bay Community Energy (EBCE), offering clean energy question and answer opportunities; Waste Management, distributing resources on best recycling practices; and Rising Sun Center for Opportunity, offering free energy saving resources.

Pre-registration is available before 3 p.m. on Thursday, April 25, 2019. Please visit https://earth-day-clean-up.eventbrite.com to pre-register. Registration is required in order to receive a free lunch.
