Reading Takes You AnywhereHayward Library challenges everyone to spend time reading, learning, and exploring this summer. Play games, earn great prizes, explore library services, and attend one of our special events. To sign in or register, select your program from the links below.

Children's Summer Reading Challenge (babies - 6th grade)

Sign up by stopping by the Main Library or Weekes Branch, registering online, or downloading and printing a reading record. For every 20 minutes that you read (or are read to), color in a square on your reading log or report your minutes online. When you have finished a reading log, bring it to the Main Library or Weekes Branch to pick up your prizes, then get a new reading log and keep going! For every reading log that you return to the library, you will win a brand new book of your choice, coupons for free entry to museums or free kids' meals at local restaurants, and an entry into our weekly raffle!

Teen Summer Reading Challenge (7th - 12th grade)

Sign up by stopping by the Main Library or Weekes Branch, registering online, or downloading and printing a reading record. Use your reading log to track the number of minutes that you read each day by marking one box for each 20 minutes that you read. Log your totals online, at the Main Library or at the Weekes Branch to be entered into our weekly raffles. For each reading log that you complete, visit the Main Library or Weekes Branch and pick out a free book and coupon. Complete the Summer Reading Challenge by reading 20 hours (1200 minutes) between June 16th and July 28th and receive a $5.00 gift card of your choice!*

*Please note: only minutes read between June 16 and July 28 can be counted for the Summer Reading Challenge. Prizes will be available beginning Monday, June 25, 2018

Adult Summer Reading Challenge (ages 18+)

Why let the kids have all the fun? Sign up by stopping by the Main Library or Weekes Branch, registering online, or downloading and printing a reading record. Read a book, read with your child, attend a library program, support a local business - for each activity you complete, you will be entered into a weekly prize drawing and our grand prize drawing. Write book reviews for extra drawing entries.

The Summer Reading Challenge is sponsored by the Friends of Hayward Library.
